Will Gates
Never living anywhere for more than 6 years of his life and serving a career 20 years in the United
States Army, Will Gates has lived and performed all over the globe. Starting his comedy career
while stationed in the Pacific Northwest in 2004, Will has displayed his humble and inviting, yet
edgy and culturally diverse style in everything from conventional comedy clubs and theaters, to
billiard halls and backyards. His performances intend to shed light on a meager upbringing and
in some cases, ease racial tension; all while maintaining a generous LPM (laugh-per-minute)
ratio. Topics within his act include growing up poor, drinking and designated drivers, economic
challenges, false advertising, unconventional comedy venues, condom machines, and african
american cats. He has performed at every comedic level between event host to headlining
comedian in locations ranging throughout Washington State, New York, Washington DC, North
Carolina, Texas, and Germany, featuring for comedians such as Ty Barnett, Steve Hofstetter,
and Rich Vos. Some of the more notable comedy clubs he has performed at include Comedy
Underground (Seattle/Tacoma WA), Giggles Comedy Club (Seattle WA) Laugh Out Loud
Comedy Club (Clayton NC/San Antonio TX), Charlie Goodnight’s Comedy Club (Raleigh NC),
Comedy Zone (Fayetteville NC), Gateway Comedy Club (Ronkonkoma NY), Greenwich Village
Comedy Club (NYC), the Bellmore Theater (Bellmore NY), COMIX at the Mohegan Sun (CT) and the world famous Broadway Comedy Club (NYC). While stationed in
Germany, Will partnered with USO and Army MWR (Morale Welfare and Recreation) in effort to
perform and headline in numerous shows catering to military servicemembers and their families
overseas. Will was an integral member of the
New York based comedy team known as the Veterans Comedy Assault; an all-veteran comedy
troupe that has packed venues throughout the northeast, has appeared on news broadcasts
throughout the Long Island and NYC area, and has raised thousands of dollars for its founding
veteran organization Project9Line. Will currently resides in Wilmington NC and is holding the quill for the next chapter in his comedy career.
