My name is Gabriella, I am currently studying at the British College of Journalism and as part of my studies I am writing a piece titled "What can we do to support female comedy?"
There is a huge disparity between male and female comedians in the industry. I am investigating the steps the industry, the public and comedy lovers can take to rectify this gender gap and what we can do to assist female comedians in receiving as much popularity, exposure and support as male comedians.
I am looking for advice from individuals who have some industry knowledge, and I am particularly interested in obtaining the thoughts and perspectives of female comedians. Are you available to answer the following questions and assist my research?
Do you believe that the disparity between male and female comedians is sufficiently acknowledged in the industry and by comedy lovers?
Do you think that the comedy industry takes enough active steps to boost the number of female comedians working in the industry?
If you think it does, can you offer some examples of ways in which you believe that aspiring female comedians are supported and bolstered?
Have you personally experienced challenges as a woman in comedy?
What further steps do you think the industry can take to boost women in comedy? (What practical steps can be taken?)
What steps do you think the public and comedy lovers can take to boost women in comedy? (Again, what practical steps can be taken?)
Do you believe that the number of female comedians will eventually become equal to male comedians?
I would love to discuss this further over the telephone if you could spare a short amount of time, please let me know and I will be happy to arrange a call this week.
If you would like to call me for any clarifications, my phone number is 07904342324.
