An Idiot’s Guide to Wine is a laugh-filled evening of comedy and wine tasting where guests sample six wine varietals from around the world while enjoying a one-person show written by Australian comedian Merrick Watts. Blending humor with approachable wine education, the experience is perfect for both seasoned connoisseurs and total beginners, proving that learning about wine doesn’t have to be dry.
This hilarious comedy show is paired with six different wine varietals from around the globe. The show was written by Merrick Watts, the only comedian in the world to possess a WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) level 3 qualification. 👉Performers of any gender or ethnicity are encouraged to apply.
Must-Have Skills:
Be affable on stage, strong comedic timing
Comfortable learning a 70-minute script
Have a basic level of wine knowledge or curiosity about wine
Have a history of performing comedy
Minimum age: 25
Fluent in English
Additional Desired Skills:
WSET qualifications or other wine qualifications
Experience writing comedy
SHOW DATES
Show dates begin early November and continue on a rolling basis contingent on performer availability. Show locations to vary per date but expect travel to: San Diego, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco, Denver, Phoenix, Seattle, Portland, and Spokane.
COMPENSATION
$1000 flat rate for rehearsals, script development and wine certification.
$800 per performance date (2 performances per day).
All travel expenses covered by Fever.
